Frequently asked questions
What is an Islamic credit card?
A card run under Sharia principles, so the bank doesn’t charge interest. Instead it uses a structure its Sharia board approves, often a fixed monthly fee or a profit charge on what you owe. If you might not clear the balance in full, ask the bank what you’d pay, because the cost can be close to a normal card’s interest.
How many Islamic credit cards are there in the UAE?
We track 29, from 8 banks: 6 cashback, 14 points and 9 miles cards. 11 of them have no annual fee.
Do Islamic cards earn less?
The best Islamic cashback card by its best category is the Emirates Islamic RTA Credit Card at 10% on fuel. The best of any card is 12% on travel (First Abu Dhabi Bank FAB Travel Card). Compare the categories you actually spend in.
Can non-Muslims get an Islamic credit card?
Yes. Islamic banks in the UAE serve everyone. Whether you’re approved depends on your salary, employer and credit history, not your religion.
